2021 is preparing to go down in history as a memorable year for YesWeCollege student-athletes. In the year that symbolized the moment of restart after the pandemic which also heavily affected the school and sports systems in the United States (and the entire world), the YWC standard bearers carved out a role for themselves as absolute protagonists, writing extraordinary chapters of the own personal history and of the organization founded by Nicolò Baudo.
After the inclusion of Yannick Bright in the NCAA Division I All-Americans, a result of equal excellence came from the NJCAA Division I championship. The protagonist, this time, was Giorgio Probo. Who with a formidable year gave continuity to the nomination in the 2020 All-Americans, winning the national title with his Iowa Western as well as the league MVP award.
Born in ’99 in Bergamo and with an important past in the Atalanta youth team, Probo was the driving force behind the Reivers, who won the crown of the top Junior College series for the second time in their history. Let’s let the numbers speak for themselves: 22 games, all as a starter, 5 goals and 6 assists. And a devastating impact when the ball weighed more, namely in national championship matches. Giorgio in fact scored the opening goal in the Nationals’ first match, then deciding the semifinal against Tyler and opening the scoring in the 2-0 against Arizona Western which gave the title to the Reivers (with assists from the other YWC standard bearer, Edoardo Degl’Innocenti, for the second marking).
An exceptional performance, which left no doubts to the United Soccer Coaches, who elected him as the best player of the season. A triumphal year, in short, with the successes on the pitch added to the entrepreneurial ones considering that Probo is also the founder of Aggs Sport, a company which with the patent of the Gripsocks technical socks is forcefully emerging as a supplier of many clubs and players in Serie A and of the national team, as well as a partner of the YesWeCollege Camp which took place last summer in Piancavallo.
