Yannick Bright, the 2021 United Soccer Coaches First Team All American
Yannick Bright wrote the story. His and that of YesWeCollege, which for the first time celebrates the inclusion of one of its student-athletes in the restricted elite of American university soccer.
The midfielder born in 2001, who after participating in the 2019 International Showcase was recruited by the University of New Hampshire the following year, concluded his sensational season with the most prestigious recognition reserved for collegiate athletes. Bright was in fact selected, thanks to the votes of the United Soccer Coaches, in the All-Americans of the NCAA Division I, the seasonal Top 11 which rewards the best footballers of the year in the top American university championship.
An incredible achievement for Yannick, the culmination of a fantastic year for him and his Wildcats. Always a starter in the 21 games of the season, the midfielder from Lombardy was one of the leaders of a New Hampshire capable of winning the regular season of the America East Conference, reaching the final of the playoffs and earning entry into the main draw of the national championship, where with the number 16 seed they beat North Carolina and then only surrendered against Oregon State, number one in the ranking.
A very high profile journey, which did not go unnoticed among NCAA Division I coaches. It is no coincidence that Bright was voted among the best eleven in the championship, following up on his rookie season in which he managed to take home the inclusion in the top 11 of America East Conference rookies. Yannick, however, was not satisfied, and deserved a place among the eleven best young footballers in the US university championship. Congratulations Yannick: you are now an All-American!
